  • Stitch counts are given as {Lovey, Stroller/Baby, Toddler, Crib, Throw, Twin}

  • The puff stitch used to create the border is different from the puff stitch used to create the blanket. Specific instructions for the border puff stitch can be found in the border section.

  • Tip: Instead of counting stitches for every row, mark off each "block" of single crochet stitches or bobble stitches, plus the bobble stitches around the border.

    • The bobble stitch border on each side of the blanket contains 5 stitches, while each "block" contains 20 stitches. When you reach each stitch marker, switch to either single crochet stitches or bobble stitches (see image below)

Border

Place a stitch marker in the center stitch of the last 3 single crochet stitches made (in the last stitch of the last row). Working down the left side of the blanket (when looking at it with the right side facing up) sc in the side of each row.

sc 3 times in the bottom left corner, sc in each st across the bottom of the blaket.

sc 3 times in the bottom right corner of the blanket, sc in the side of each row on the right side of the blanket.

sc 3 times in the first sc st in the top right corner, sc in each st across the top of the blanket, stop at the st containing the stitch marker {233, 317, 445, 529, 569, 785 sts}

Follow instructions for the border you want to use (bobble border, or classic shells).

Bobble Border

For the bobble border, a puff stitch (ps) is made as follows:

  • Yo, insert hook, yo, pull up a loop (3 loops on hook).

  • Repeat step 1 three more times (9 loops on hook).

  • Yo, pull through all 9 loops on hook.

All Sizes

ch 1, sc 2 times in first st (the stitch you just slip stitched into to complete the sc border).

ch 3, ps in second ch from hook, sl st into first ch, sc in same st 1more time, sc in next 4 sts.

1. ch 3, ps in 2nd ch from hook, sl st into 1st ch

2. sc in next 5 sts

Repeat steps 1 - 2 across the left side of the blanket.

The puff stitch border pattern is worked in a multiple of 5 + 4 stitches. For most sizes, you will not have an exact number of stitches between the corners, however, this small discrepancy is unnoticeable.

Continue following the pattern for your size.
