If you're wondering what yarn to use for your Granny Pop Beanie, I absolutely recommend Lion Brand Heartland Yarn! It's my favorite yarn to work with because it’s so soft and smooth, and it gives your crochet projects such a cozy, polished look. Plus, it comes in a gorgeous range of colors that really make your work pop.

If you’re looking for something else, no worries! Here are a few other great options:

  • Red Heart Soft Yarn – This one’s super affordable and soft, making it another fantastic choice for beanies and hats.

  • Caron Simply Soft – Silky smooth with rich, vibrant colors, it’s perfect for those who like a bit of shine in their projects.

  • Bernat Premium – If you prefer something thicker, Bernat Premium gives that extra warmth and softness, great for colder months.

Hook Size and Notions

Gauge

The beanie band should measure approximately 3 (3) 5 (6) 6 cm {1" (1") 1.5" (2") 2"} in width and have 18 rows in 10 cm (4") using a 4 mm crochet hook.

Work several rows of the beanie band then measure to check gauge.

  • A chain 3 at the beginning of a round counts as a double crochet stitch.

  • Stitch counts are given at the end of each row as follows: {baby, toddler, child, adult, adult large}
